Estate Sale Our biannual estate sale is continuing. It started on September 11 with five individuals contributing about 400 “new” items to our merchandise. As of Saturday afternoon, September 16, everything that is left has been marked down to 50% off. We will continue the sale until the middle or toward the end of October or until everything is gone. Some of the items still left include a beautiful old treadle Singer Sewing machine from around the turn of the century, some very old post cards, an old country school desk, two caned chairs, some roller skating books from the 40s and 50s, some fleece blankets, some framed Dutch tiles, some collectible elephants, books, some lovely dishes including a complete set for 12, cut glass, unique dolls and more. Birthday Celebration Although we are still about five and a half weeks away, our 7th birthday party will be here before you know it. That is really our biggest sale of the year. Everything in the store will on sale. You buy what you want and then you pop a balloon. The balloon will have a discount from 10% - 40%. It will last for three days, i.e. November 2, 3, & 4. When the next newsletter comes out, we will only be days away, so you might want to put it on your calendar now. We will be open from 10:07 a.m. – 5:13 p.m. all three days. This would be a good time to buy your wooden shoes for next year. You know that you will get 10% off the retail price and you might get 40%. Fall Trail of Treasures I'm afraid this is after the fact, but yesterday, September 23, Jubon Juweelen took part in the Fall Trail of Treasures. I'll tell you about it anyway, so you can be ready for next year. This was organized by Whimsy, a cute little gift shop in Orange City. It included the Country Barn Antiques shop and Laura's Vintage Therapy in Sheldon, Iowa; Martin Rustic Acres in Ashton and the Clucky Chicken Antiques in Sibley. If you stopped at all six places and had a card punched at each one, you were eligible for door prizes supplied by each of the shops. Last year was our first year participating and we were surprised by how many people did stop at all the stores on the card. Website New Look Check out our new look on jubonjuweelen.biz. Juliana has designed a new web site for us. It contains a blog, but I haven't really done much with this yet, but my intentions are good. Hopefully in the near future I'll be adding to this. Actually, we would like to get some videos of our two kitties interacting with some of our merchandise (I have some catnip to sprinkle over it to entice them to interact a little more). You can also always interact with us through our Facebook presence. Just click the Facebook button at the side of this newsletter. Perusing our Guest Book This month we had visitors from Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin and all over Iowa. We also had people from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Thomasville, Ontario in Canada and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. | |||||||
