7th Birthday Party Sale
By Owner: Bonnie Meier

Our big news is our 7th birthday party coming up November 2, 3, & 4. We will be open from 10:07 a.m. – 5:13 p.m. each of the three days. EVERYTHING in our store will be on sale. Our store will be filled with balloons. You buy what you want and then you pop a balloon at the checkout counter for a discount between 10% - 40%. It is the only time all year that everything in the store is on sale. Don't forget that we ship UPS, also. If you are from out of town and can't carry something back, we will ship it for you.

Dutch Chocolate
By Owner: Bonnie Meier

We have a large order of Dutch chocolate that will be on its way soon. I'm not sure whether it will make it before our birthday party, but we hope so. The order will contain our Chocolate letters, both dark and milk chocolate. I'd recommend getting in soon once the letters come in because some letters go very quickly. People are always disappointed if they can't get the letters they want. Sometimes we have to even go to middle names to get a letter to fit everyone. The order will also contain Steenland Sinterklaas chocolates, some small and medium sized Sinterklaases and 24 Advent calendars. I ordered more this year of my favorite, Mille Lac dark chocolate sea salt caramels. We will also have seven different kinds of stroopwafels from minis to chocolate covered ones and everything in-between.

Halloween
By Owner: Bonnie Meier

On Tuesday, October 31, businesses in Orange City will be welcoming Trick/Treaters. We always give out a Dutch fruit toffee, which seems to be very popular with ghosts and goblins. Fran Muilenburg, one of Orange City's favorite former teachers, puts on her witch's outfit and hands out the toffees. Fran knows many of the children having taught many of the children, their parents and possibly even a few of their grandparents. We will also be hosting the 6th grade entries to the city pumpkin decorating contest. So check out our windows for some creative pumpkins.

Lee & Bonnie Visit a friend in Schohare, NY
By Owner: Bonnie Meier

Lee and I had an adventure earlier this month when we took Amtrak from Omaha, Nebraska to Albany, New York. We had a delightful time with a childhood friend of mine who moved to New York about 50 years ago. For those of you from this area you probably remember Jean Miller, now Anderson. Jean was the Tulip Queen in the early 60s and was a wonderful member of our community. However, she married a boy from upper New York and has lived out there ever since. You'll have to ask Lee sometime how he liked Amtrak.

Door Prize
By Owner: Bonnie Meier

Last month five little shops sponsored a Fall Trail of Treasures. It was a good way to introduce new people to our little store. If you got a signature or punch at each store, your name went into a hat for door prizes. Ms. Lisa Nelson won Jubon Juweelen's door prize. The other sponsors were Whimsy from Orange City, Country Barn Antiques and Laura's Vintage Therapy from Sheldon, Martin Rustic Acres from Ashton and Clucky Chicken Antiques from Sibley. Sadly, Whimsy has since gone out of business. Retail has been taking quite a hit with so many shopping on line anymore. However, we like to think there is still something special about finding that special something in person and not just seeing a picture of it. Jubon Juweelen has so many things that are just one of a kind, that it would be hard to put it online because when it is gone, it is gone and we probably will not have another one like it.
