UPS Thanksgiving Schedule

UPS has issued their schedule for the Holiday season. Here is their Thanksgiving schedule. There will be normal pickup and delivery on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 24 and 25. All 2nd Day Air packages on Tuesday will be delivered by Friday, November 27 and Next Day Air packages picked up on Wednesday will be delivered on Friday, November 27; 2nd Day Air packages picked up on Wednesday will be delivered on Monday, November 30, except for those labeled for Saturday delivery. There will be no UPS services on Thanksgiving Day. Friday, November 27 will be normal pickup and delivery in most areas.

Estate Sale Items 50% Off

We had an estate sale starting September 9. We had many interesting, one-of-a-kind items including several collections. We were pleased to sell an entire Jan Hagara collection and many bells from a bell collection. One of the first persons to come to the sale was a man from Sioux City who collected brass. Not only were we able to accommodate him with many things from the estate sale, but we also had many other brass items in the store. If it was unique, he purchased it. We started with six tables full of items. We are down a few, but still have many items left. All estate sale items that are left are now 50% off. We will keep them around for a little while yet, but they will all be cleared out in time to celebrate our birthday when everything in the store is on sale.

Birthday Party November 5, 6, and 7

The big news is that during our birthday everything in the store will be on sale. This is the only time all year that we have a sale that includes EVERYTHING. We decorate the whole store with balloons. This year the white balloons will all contain a discount. Purchase your items and then pop a white balloon and it will contain a discount of from 10 – 40%. We have a lot of good stocking stuffers ordered, which should be here in time for the sale. This is a good time to start shopping for Christmas with some great bargains.

Celebrate Halloween on Friday, October 30

Orange City merchants will again be celebrating Halloween by giving out treats from noon – 5:00 p.m. However, since October 31 is on a Saturday this year, the candy will be given out on Friday, October 30.

Since our last newsletter we have had guests sign the guest book from Alabama, California, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and all over Iowa.

Vacation Rental in San Diego

Co-Owner Juliana Korver purchased a house earlier this year in San Diego in the Point Loma/Ocean Beach area and is renting it out to tourists who visit the area. Lee and I had the opportunity to stay there from September 14 – 18. What a wonderful experience. The house is located only ten blocks from the beach. It is within walking distance and short driving distance from many of San Diego’s attractions. The house is lovely and easily accommodates seven people. All the dishes and furniture are brand new except for an old roll top desk that has been in the family since the early 1900s. If you were looking for a wonderful place to spend a vacation, I’d recommend that you look into this. The only suggestion I had for Juliana was that, since she is so tall, she needed a little step stool so that short people like me could reach the top shelves of the cupboards.
