Jubon Juweelen is now the Primary Source of Wooden Shoes
By Co-Owner: Bonnie Meier

Jubon Juweelen has just purchased the local Chamber of Commerce’s supply of undecorated wooden shoes and is now the primary supplier of wooden shoes for those who are participating in activities where klompen are necessary. Participants in Dutch dance and Dutch games will receive the same discount formerly offered by the Orange City Chamber. The Orange City Chamber will still carry the Vogel design wooden shoes and will be the only place you can purchase them (unless we get some used ones on consignment).

Tulip Festival Brochure
By Co-Owner: Bonnie Meier

The new brochures celebrating the 75th Orange City Tulip Festival have arrived and they are probably the most attractive ones ever printed. Juliana Pennings, Tulip Festival chairperson, and Taylor Reynolds, Chamber assistant, designed them. They feature a 75-year commemorative medallion, also designed by Juliana and Taylor. We are lucky to have two such talented young people working for our city. The brochure features old and new pictures of the Tulip Festival over the years and also describes the festival events and attractions. It tells how you can purchase a ticket book for $15 that has a value of $26. In the center of the brochure is the parade route and icons on a map that show where you can find all activities for May 14, 15, and 16. Names and addresses of places to eat and stay are also included. If you would like a copy, please e-mail us and we will send you as many as you would like. You’ll notice that carnival rides will again be in the street right in front of Jubon Juweelen.

Jubon Juweelen in Good Hands
By Co-Owner: Bonnie Meier

I am not worried about the store while we are here in Arizona because we have great help who treat the store as if it were their own. We have featured everyone of them in the past in the newsletter, but I’ll introduce you to them again. Margaret Fernow usually works on Monday and Tuesday with Sharon Vande Steeg working Wednesday and Thursday. While we are gone Louise Trei has taken the Friday and Saturday shifts with Nelva Rowenhorst helping out Wednesday evening. Fran Muilenburg is handling the financial end of it and locking up in the evening. We are always in contact via e-mail, text or telephone, but a vacation is always good for everyone. Two of our substitute helpers, Idelle Vogel and Arlys Oolman, actually spend the winter in Mesa. We hope to touch base with them while here and look forward to them returning in the spring.

Juliana to compete in Disc Golf Tournament
By Co-Owner: Bonnie Meier

One of the reasons that we carry the golf discs at the store is because one of the co-owners used to be very involved in the sport. In fact, she has won five Professional World Championships and one Amateur World Championship. She took a hiatus from the sport for several years because of a job commitment and because of the pressure that the professional disc golf world created for her. However, she is starting to enter that world again, this time for the fun of it rather than to make her living at it.

A new item she will be using during her competitions this year is called a GoCart. It is a cart specifically designed for disc golf. It has rugged wheels that can handle tough terrain. It carries her beautiful new Revolution Disc Golf Bag without putting stress or strain on her back or shoulders. It has a built in chair and affords her the luxery of carrying plenty of extra discs, cloths and food during a round.

If you have any interest in a cart for your own disc golf game, or one of the Revolution bags, let us know. They are big ticket items, but they are both very high quality. We may not have them on hand in the store, but if you show an interest, we can get them. You can also find them online at Gotta Go Gotta throw.

Perusing our guest book
By Co-Owner: Bonnie Meier

Actually, we will not have any information in this issue from our guest book because I am writing this newsletter while vacationing in Arizona in beautiful 78 degree weather and do not have access to the guest book down here. I’ll check through the past two months in the March newsletter. In fact, all the owners of Jubon Juweelen, i.e. Juliana Korver and Clint Korver and, of course, my husband Lee, are down here with me and we are all enjoying the wonderful weather. Even the Arizona weathermen are marveling at how nice it is. Our two granddaughters, Serena and Sophia, and our daughter-in-law are also enjoying the sun.
