RAGBRAI GOING THROUGH ORANGE CITY JULY 22

By Co Founder: Bonnie Meier

On July 22 thousands of bicycle riders will start their trip across Iowa in the 40th RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa). The first community they will travel through is Orange City. Orange City has been working for months preparing for the riders. Four churches will combine for a community church service on Saturday evening and will not have church services Sunday morning. Instead they are encouraging their members to volunteer to help downtown directing traffic, answering questions and helping in many other ways. People are also encouraged to wear Dutch costumes and show off their Dutch heritage. Orange City is planning on putting on a mini Tulip Festival for the RAGBRAI riders. A Straatmarket will be set up along Central Avenue offering food and other things. Jubon Juweelen will be using the Dutch Bakery’s booth and selling Dutch candy bars, chocolate syrup waffles, Ultimate discs, Dutch hats, etc. etc. If you are in NW Iowa on July 22, you might want to take the opportunity to watch many thousands of bikers riding through the heart of Orange City.

Ragbrai traveling through alton

By Co-Founder: Bonnie Meier

Three miles east of Orange City is the community of Alton, which is RAGBRAI’s next destination. Alton has also been busy preparing for the thousands of bike riders that will be driving through town. The Alton activities will take part in the Band Shell Park with the band “Plymouth” playing Christian and contemporary music. The Alton Firemen will be serving pancakes and sausage and the people of Alton will be serving an egg, sausage and cheese croissant. All the money made in Alton will go toward the firemen who will be purchasing air packs and the children’s park located by the pool. At 11:00 a.m. there will be an interdenominational church service in the park sponsored by the Catholic, Presbyterian and Reformed churches of Alton. The Alton RAGBRAI committee is co-chaired by Todd Vandegriend and Amanda Penning.

Rick Rughair meeting potential Jubon Clients

By Co-Founder: Bonnie Meier

Rick spent one of the hottest days of the year meeting future Jubon clients in Remsen, Iowa. As Bonnie and Rick visited many of the community people in Remsen a carnival was being set up on main street for Kids’ Days and the bank clock registered 101 degrees. The Remsen-Union Community School District has already been Juboned and we look forward to welcoming many more Remsen businesses.
