Jubon is very excited to welcome Remsen-Union Community School District. We recently added the community of Remsen’s map and the school district is our first billboard or location on the map. Ken Howard is the Superintendent at RU School District and is also very involved in the community as well.

The Remsen Union Community School District has a stable student enrollment of approximately 370 students. The district is served by 40 teachers, two administrators, and numerous support staff. At Remsen-Union the administration, Board of Education, teachers and staff share in the commitment to strive toward excellence in all academic and extracurricular activities to enable all students to reach their full potential.

The school is home to not only academics, but also a host of great activities such as sporting events, music and cultural events. There is never a dull moment or a lack of something to do. Our Jubon map can guide you to your destination and will also link you to the school’s website which will give you more information on the activities going in the community. It will also tell you about our cultural, career and technology programs, which are very exciting. The map also shows the location of all ball fields in the community.

Tulip Festival

Although the tulips might be finished blooming by May 17, there are still a lot of exciting things to do at the 72^nd Annual Orange City, Iowa Tulip Festival. Check out the Jubon map for the parade route which will start at the corner of 1^st Street S and turns on 2^nd Street N for one block and then comes down Central Avenue going south. Many of the events at the festival are free including a car & truck show, a puppet show, a display at the Tulip Town Bulb Company, a movie about the Netherlands at the public library, the Dutch street organ, Artburst & Authors’ Corner, children’s art exhibit, the Old Factory Coffee Shop, an antique tractor show, an organ recital and the Vogel Mill. Other activities that require small fees include the Century Home, carnival rides, horse-drawn trolley tours, pedi-cab rides, a night program including “My Fair Lady”, the Heritage Center and flower show, a shuttle service and a quilt show. Street scrubbing starts at 1:45 p.m. every day followed by the parade. The parade is repeated in the evening at 6:30 p.m. Don’t forget to stop in at Jubon Juweelen where you can purchase wooden shoes, wooden shoe slippers, Delft, Dutch souvenirs and many one of a kind items, many made especially for Jubon Juweelen. It is also a good place to meet friends or just sit and rest for a while.

Treasure was found

The Treasure has been found. Beverly Van Dam went on to Jubon.biz and located the Treasure picture and found her way to Woudstra Meat Market where she read three clues and the searched for the felt Jubon 8 car and after finding it took she it to the Chamber office to claim her Chamber Bucks. Congratulations to Beverly last month’s Treasure Winner. The Treasure is hidden again so go on to jubon.biz in April for your chance to win Chamber Bucks.
