Jubon Journal Becomes the voice for Jubon Juweelen

By Co-Owner: Bonnie Meier

For the past four years the Jubon Journal has come out on the 24th of every month to inform recipients of business information for customers of Jubon. Customers paid a small fee to be on the Jubon map. The concept behind the original map was to help small town business people have a web presence and to promote shopping locally and to promote small towns. Six communities eventually had businesses listed on the map. Businesses could post coupons and take part in other Jubon services. Four years ago a lot of businesses still did not have a web page nor have much of a web presence. However, things have changed over the past four years. Most businesses do now have a web presence and the need for Jubon is not as great. Jubon still receives between 2000 - 3000 hits a week and that seems to constantly grow and many people do use Jubon daily to access their bank accounts, get telephone numbers and access web sites that might not be easy to find. Although Jubon is not going away, they will not actively seek any new customers in the future. The current customers will remain on the maps at no charge and the directories, quick find and billboards will still be available to anyone who desires to use them.

Beginning with this issue, the Jubon Journal will start focusing on its daughter company, Jubon Juweelen. As Jubon Juweelen has grown over the past two plus years, it needs a way to communicate with people about products being offered, sales that are occurring and many other promotions. To get more details and see pictures of many of our latest additions "like" us on Facebook. In January we will have a promotion, which will be available to everyone who "likes" us.

Jubon Juweelen will try to sell your items on e-bay

By Co-Owner: Bonnie Meier

Starting the 1st of January e-Bay services will be available at 107 3rd Street NE. They will actually be offered through Sherwood Forest Consulting (SFC). However, if you would like us to ship for you, that will be offered through Jubon Juweelen which offers UPS service. If you are interested in selling your items on e-Bay, pick up a request sheet (or ask for it electronically). The request sheet will outline your different options and have a section where you can write a description of your product to sell. The costs of listing an item on e-Bay through SFC will be a pass through of any e-Bay expenses plus $3 for taking pictures and administering and posting your item on eBay. If you don't sell the item, that will be your only cost. If you only post under one category and list for less than ten days, the total cost could be only $3. However, each time you add a category, it increases your cost.

If you do sell an item, eBay takes a percentage (our experience so far has been 9%, but we believe this will vary). They also take a percentage of your shipping fees (that has also been 9%). Then SFC charges 20% of the amount the item sold for. After all expenses have been deducted SFC will send you an itemized receipt plus a check for any money realized from the sale.

We are playing with the idea of adding selling on Amazon.com as well, but for now we want to become familiar with e-Bay. Amazon is not an auction. You state what price you want rather than have people bid for it. We'll let you know if/when we are ready to add that service.

Jubon Juweelen is planning to have a small booth at the Bridal Fair held in Orange City. We offer personalized Dutch tiles that are commonly given to new couples with the couple's name and wedding date. We will also be offering gift baskets from our store. Baskets can be personalized by adding items from a check-off sheet, which include any of the items we sell at Jubon Juweelen.

The Bridal Fair this year will be held in the newly opened Event Center which is a beautiful new building located on Highway 10 and features art work from many of our local artists. Doors will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a style show at noon. Booths will be located on the upper level.
