Orange City's Tulip Festival

 Orange City will celebrate its 71st Tulip Festival the third weekend in May. This is a wonderful celebration of the community's Dutch Heritage. Activities include a fly-in breakfast and a 5K/10K Road Race. Exhibits featuring molen (dutch word for wind mills), tulip gardens and children's art will be available. Horse-drawn trolley rides begin at 9:00 am each day. The trollies are name after two former Queens of the Netherlands, Wilhelmina and Juliana. Other attractions include the Century Home, a flower show, the Sioux County Heritage Center, a quilt show, De Straatwinkel, Pedi-cabs, an antique tractor show, the Dutch Street Organ and on Saturday Art burst and Authors' Corner.

A time honored tradition for the Tulip Festival is the street inspection carried out by the Mayor and City Council. Traditionally, after inspection, they declare that the street is not clean enough for the parade to begin. This is the signal for many people young and old dressed in Dutch costumes to take to the streets with water and brooms to scrub it clean. Once the street is prepared the parade can begin and hosts many bands including MOC-Floyd Valley, which marches in wooden shoes. There are also Dutch Dancers, a puppet show, carnival rides, and a play. This year's performance is "Godspell".

K Outlet Joins Jubon

Welcome to K Outlet located at 102 Central Avenue NW in Orange City, Iowa. K Outlet will be going on Orange City's Jubon map before the end of the month. K Outlet is a division of Staples Promotional Products and moved its location from south of town to a main street location earlier this year. They opened their doors in early November. Their hours are:

Tuesday and Wednesday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Thursday 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Friday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Saturday 8:00 a.m. - noon
