Old building closing July 31

On July 31 we will be closing our location at 107 3rd Street NE. We are three months short of serving the public 8 years from this location. We started by selling mainly notions, disc golf discs and books, but quickly added antiques and (sort of by default) Dutch imports. Other stores that carried Dutch items went out of business and we ended up the main source of Dutch items. At one time we had over 80 people who had consignment items here. As far as I know there are no other businesses in town who carry antiques. That might be an area that someone may want to pursue in the future. We have many people ask for more antiques in the area, especially visitors from other states.

Online Auction

The physical store will be closed during the month of August while Zomer will be handling an on-line auction for everything that is left in the store. They should be taking pictures the first full week of August and will open the auction shortly after. The auction will close on August 25 and you will be able to pick up your successful purchases the next week. I'm not sure what day you can come in and check out the merchandise, but please go to www.zomerbid.com to get a bidding number and follow the auction.

New Location Opening

On Saturday, September 1st, we will open our new location at 204 Iowa Avenue NW. Our new location will be in a room that we had built onto our house when we first moved here. Our location is actually about six blocks straight west of our present one and then just a little south. If you know where the new five-plex built by the Pioneer Home is, we are located right across the road from them and then kitty corner north.

It will probably be easier to park close to our new location. There were times there were no parking places at our present store. Please park on the right side of our driveway as we have a renter who uses the other side and we want to keep that open for him.

We will have an open/closed sign in front of a big pot of flowers. At this time we are planning on keeping the same hours that we have had for the last couple of years, i.e. opening at 10:07 a.m. Monday - Saturday and closing at 5:13 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. We will close at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and 3:13 p.m. on Saturday. Plus we should always be available by cell phone if you need something after hours.

We will have Gutermann thread, disc golf discs, books and wooden shoes at our new location. We will also have a few other things like watches, jewelry, some tiles and a few Dutch things, but not nearly the choice that we did have. We will probably be getting some Dutch food after we get settled, but we will see how much room we have and kind of play it by ear at first. We still plan on having coffee around 3:00 p.m. and hope that many of you can join us.

Juliana competes in Europe

My daughter, Juliana Korver, will be traveling to Berlin, Germany where she will be competing in the European Freestyle Open (EFO) August 26th - 28th. She will be competing in 3 divisions: open pairs, women's pairs and mixed pairs. The following weekend she will be in Trnava, Slovakia for the Freestyle Players Association (FPA) World Championships. She will be competing in the same 3 divisions in Slovakia.
