A Little Late I believe this is the first time in ten years that we didn't get a newsletter out in time. It is my fault. My husband's only sister died last week and we spent two days with family and the funeral and then on Saturday, we buried my aunt who had died four months earlier, but was buried on the 21st . With all that was happening in our lives, I just completely forgot about the newsletter. The main thing I wanted to relay in this issue is the schedule for the Tulip Festival, so I'll just summarize what our Tulip Time brochure says below. Tulip Festival The theme this year is "Where flowers bloom, so does hope!" We have had such a cold spring we are hoping that flowers are blooming by May 17, 18 and 19. Below you can find all the events for the weekend. Events are held each day unless noted.

8:00 p.m. Jubon will be open all the days of the Tulip Festival and will have expanded hours both in the a.m. and the p.m. We will also be operating the Straat Winkel in the Straatmarkt on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Juliana Korver, my daughter, will be here to help me with the Straat Winkel. Juliana is the reason that we sell disc golf items. Receptenboek van de Nederlandse Huisvrouw This is the name of the new cookbook that is currently at the printers and will, hopefully, be here before the Tulip Festival. The name means Recipe Book of the Dutch Housewife. All the recipes in the book are authentically Dutch and it contains a lot more than just recipes. There is a summary of each province plus a map of the Netherlands and many of the recipes have comments with them about when the food was served, etc. Renae Vander Schaaf and I wrote it and we are probably more anxious to see it than any of you because we know that our publisher added several pictures and we haven't seen them yet. Perusing our Guest Book This month we had people visit our store from Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and all over Iowa. We also had people from Columbia, South America and Russia. | |||||||
