Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

All of us at Jubon Juweelen would like to wish all of you a wonderful Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope you've had a great year and will have a good one next year. I'm writing this on the shortest day of the year and it sure seemed to get dark early. We have had a lot of winter weather already and still have almost 100% snow cover. However, the ice seems to have melted off the sidewalks and roads, which is good. I am thankful that after today the days will start getting longer again. YAAH!!

UPS

I just wanted to remind people that we are still processing UPS packages. We have been fairly busy in December as people have been sending Christmas presents. We even had a big box that went to Canada and we found out the challenges of shipping to another country (much more paper work). However, everything is done on the computer now, so it is not too bad. My husband, Lee, used to do this by hand and he said it was really challenging. If you want to ship with us, we need to have the package processed by 3:20 p.m. in order for it to be picked up that day.

Second Addition of Receptenboek Van De Nederlandse Huisvrouw

About two weeks ago both Renae Vander Schaaf and I received copies of the second addition of our recipe book, which in English means Recipe Book of the Dutch Housewife. We corrected several mistakes we found in the first one including spelling words, especially some Dutch ones. Both Renae and I have them available. They make wonderful Christmas presents and have been selling well.

Vendor's Fair

On December 13 we held a Christmas Vendor's Fair at the location of our former Jubon Juweelen building. It went so well that we held another one the next Thursday, December 20. Participating in all three are The Little Things with Mona Murran and Jubon Juweelen with two booths, one with 50% off items and one with new items including puzzles, Dutch food and wooden shoe slippers. Other vendors participating in the first two Fairs include Glitter and Rust, Crafts and Sew On, Silver Swede, Sharon's Creative Crafts, Renae Vander Schaaf, Fahrenbruch Gardens, Grandma's Fruit Juice, and Soldier Woodworking.

From January 23 - 26 Orange City merchants will be celebrating Crazy Dayz. We have decided to have another Vendor Fair on Thursday, January 24 (1:00 p.m. - 7:00) and Friday, January 25 (1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.) We may have some space open for new vendors (we have ten spots). Store Hours

We are trying to keep similar hours to what we had in our former building, i.e. opening at 10:07 a.m. and closing at 5:13 p.m. Monday - Friday and closing at 3:13 p.m. on Saturday. One change, however, is that we are not staying open late on Wednesday. All weekday afternoons, we are closing at 5:13 p.m. We have our open/closed sign in the front of the house that indicates whether we are around or not. We are a little more flexible now and there are times that we are closed during those normal hours, such as right after Thanksgiving we were closed until the next Monday because we went to California to spend Thanksgiving with our kids. You can always give us a call at 712-737-8920 or 712-737-7012 to double check whether we are open or not. We also don't mind after hours calls since we are usually right here anyway.
